Hi, Mama. Does this resonate with you?
You are constantly pushing to create and carry the best life for your family, moving from one thing to the next until the day is gone and the next one is upon you.
Yet you're left feeling like life is slipping past, and the moments you do remember are tinged with regret and longing.
If you feel like this, you're not alone.
No matter where you are in your journey toward truly being present in your own life, one simple question can encourage and inspire you.
Are you making time in your life for the moments of your life?
I'm a homemaker who is literally home all day. When I asked myself this very question, I realized I was letting so many moments pass by because I was "doing something." I was too busy for the moments that were trying to invite me in to my life.
So I encourage you today to see if in any way you can make space in your life...for life.
This isn't easy.
This requires us to lean out of the hustle and lean in to the moments of our lives.
Let's be real. The hustle is kind of easier. It's exhausting, yes, but it's predictable. It's easier than sitting with the unknown of authentic living.
Yet when we lean in to the moments that motherhood has for us, we gain an opportunity for deeply meaningful connection.
I think most of us are craving that.
Some moments are uncomfortable. Some moments are stressful. Some moments are really, really hard. It's easy to get overwhelmed by the moments that push us out of our comfort zones. But you will find that a beautiful truth emerges when you open up space in your life for less hustle and more moments.
Mama, it's the moments that make a life.
In the ordinary moments, we hear about our children's dreams.
In the dull moments, we see them imagine and invent.
In the hard moments, we choose grace and resilience, and see them choose to give it to us in return.
In the snuggle moments, we kiss their cheeks and watch their noses crinkle with laughter.
In the painful moments, we hold them, and they hold us with small, warm hands.
In the deep moments, when they should be drifting off to sleep, we glimpse the most secret places of their hearts.
Over the past two years, three mamas (including myself) have chosen to embrace the moments. It isn't always easy, and yet we have never looked back. We hope that here on our blog, you can find some encouragement for your journey.
No matter where you are in motherhood, you can take another step toward more deeply embracing the moments you have with your children. As we like to say, the years are short, so let these days be golden.
